COMMON PROBLEMS IN BULLDOGS
Tear Stains: If your dog has white on its face, over time you may find its face stained caused by the tears from the eyes. This can be due to the fact that bulldogs have big round eyes that
water, entropian (explained below), or the lashes will irritate the eye off and on. To help reduce the stains, clean the face daily.
Cherry Eye: This is the gland from the third eyelid that protrudes in the corner of the eye. It can be repaired by your veterinarian. It is not major surgery, but you need a veterinarian familiar with the bulldog breed.
Entropian: This is where the eyelashes have turned inwards and are rubbing on the eyes, causing them to water more than normal. Sometimes it could just be a couple of lashes causing the problem, or all of them. This is also a simple procedure to correct. It should be corrected. If not, it could cause scratches on the cornea leading to more expensive eye problems.
Elongated Soft Palate: All bulldogs have this due to their short facial structure (brachycephalic). In most cases it causes nothing more than snoring, but in severe cases it can cause breathing difficulties, especially during exercise and overheating. This can be corrected surgically.
Demodex (mange): There are two forms of demodex, localized and generalized. The localized form is usually just a lull in the dog’s immune system and is seen as few patches on the front legs, chest and head. This is resolvable and should pose no long-term problem for the dog. Breeder reserves the right to a third opinion of Breeder's choosing to determine the congenital defect.
Overheating: Bulldogs should never be left outside in temperatures above 70 degrees, in a car, or in a non-air conditioned house during the summer.
It is very important to not put collars on a bulldog. All bulldogs should only ware a harness. Collars can cause accidental strangulation.
If this guarantee is exercised and a replacement puppy is given then the original puppy must be returned to the Breeder. All shipping costs are the responsibility of the Buyer.
No replacement will be given if the female has been bred. All laboratory verification must be done by a licensed, Veterinarian. No replacement will be given if the registration application form has expired.
